AKSHAR BRAHMA

Akshar Brahma is the abode of Shri Krishna, destination for the followers of the path of knowledge (Gyana Marg). It is the place obtained after liberation. It is a cause of Creation, Existence and Destruction of the Universe. The Sat, Chit and Anand attributes of the supreme brahma are manifested in Akshar Brahma.

In the form of Akshar Brahma, Shri Krishna is all pervading and therefore incomprehensible. After describing his impersonal character of Akshar Brahma, Shri Krishna gives description of his personal character in Geeta; i.e.

“Purusah Sa Parah Parth I
Bhaktya Labhyas Tvananyaya II”

Meaning: One who is even greater than even Akshar Brahma, that Supreme Being (Shri Krishna) is obtainable only through devotion.

Shri Krishna is ‘Purnananda’, were as Akshar Brahma is ‘Ganitananda’ i.e. inferior to Shri Krishna. Akshar Brahma is more equal to Nirgun Brahma of Shankaracharya. Sagun Brahma is superior to Nirgun Brahma as the concept of bliss is limited in Nirgun Brahma. It is Adhiyatmik Swaroop (Spiritual Form) of Brahma. Here Sat and Chit is Present fully and the attribute of Anand is partially present.

In Bhakti Marg the main aim of the soul is to get communion with God but in Gyan Marg the soul can reach to Akshar Brahma and after reaching soul gets liberated and cannot reach further. To reach further from Akshar Brahma, Shri Vallabhacharya says devotion is necessary.

The following are the main difference between Akshar and Purushottam;

1.Akshar: It is non manifest.It is impersonal.Tirobhava.
Purushottam: He becomes Manifested by His will in any form.Aavirbhav.(Sarvabhav Samrthya evam Bahubhavan Sankalpa)

2.Akshar: It is pervasive everywhere.(Vyapakta)
Purushottam: He is accessible to His seeker only.(Virudh-Dharmashrayta)

3.Akshar: He is attained by knowledge. (Gyan Sadhya)
Purushottam: He is attained through Bhakti.(Krupa Sadhya)

4.Akshar: He is unthinkable. (Anirvachaniya)
Purushottam: He is thinkable by the Bhaktas.( Adbhut karma-Lila)

5.Akshar: It is immovable .
Purushottam: He is Movable.

6.Akshar: It is an abode of Purushottam.(Dham)
Purushottam: He transcends Akshara.(Dhami)

7.Akshar: It is the origin of Prakriti and Purusha.
Purushottam: He is the origin of Akshara.

8.Akshar: It is finite in Anand.(Ganitanand)
Purushottam: He is Infinite in Anand.(Purnanand)

9.Akshar: Moksha is the fruit(Mukti)
Purushottam: Nityalila is the fruit.(Alokik samarthya,Saujya,Sevopayogi Deha)
